Principal's Update - 4th November
Welcome
Dear Families,
Last Friday, October 28th, we celebrated World Teachers Day! We take this opportunity to express our gratitude to all of our educators here at St Columba’s and thank them for their tireless efforts towards making a difference in our children's lives. Catholic Education Ballarat has put together a video to celebrate our diocese's amazing teachers and leaders and thank them for their contributions to our schools. Click here to watch CEB Video World Teachers Day. We also take this opportunity to thank our parent community for their generous donation of coffees and morning tea to celebrate our amazing staff. A wonderful surprise for everyone!
Posisocks
The Posi Socks program has kicked off well, with our students wearing their socks each Friday and all students participating in the Posi Schools 21-day Positivity Program. There is still time to purchase your child’s posi socks via the QuickCliq app.
World's Greatest Shave
Today our Year 5/6 Community participated in the World's Greatest Shave raising money for the Leukaemia foundation. Our 5/6 students had a crazy hair day while 3 of our brave educators, Nathan, Tony and Nick opted to have their hair shaved and to raise funds for this valuable cause!
Skyla, Mimi and Charli came up with this initiative as part of their ERPP (Education Research Passion Project), setting an initial goal of $600. The lure of students participating by shaving the nominated Staff’s heads, raised the tally to just over $2000!! Thank you to everyone who has donated, the Leukaemia Foundation will be extremely grateful.
Story Time
As part of our Transition to school program this year for our new Foundation Students for 2023, we have been hosting a Storytime each week in our school Library. This fun session has consisted of story reading, singing and music to cater for our preschool students and their siblings. These sessions have been well received with high attendance and engagement. Just another way to invite families into our school and ensure students and families alike, feel our St Columba's welcome and hospitality.
Bunnings BBQ
This Saturday, our school has been fortunate to secure once again a spot for the highly sought after Bunnings BBQ fundraiser. The BBQ will be held tomorrow 5th November, commencing at 8:30 am and finishing at 4:30 pm. Please come along tomorrow and buy a sausage or two to support this worthy cause.
Should you have any queries, please contact the school office or Serena Nicholson on 0418 107 261.
Sad News
It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Alison Thorpe’s dear mother, Mrs. Kath Kenna. As many of you would know Kath has been unwell for an extended period of time and Alison has been working tirelessly alongside her siblings to provide the greatest of care for her. We extend our regards to the Thorpe, Kenna, and McLean families and ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
