Principal's Update - 18th August
Welcome
Dear Families,
As the end of winter approaches, we are excited to share some updates and upcoming events that we believe will add joy and vibrancy as we hit mid Term Three.
Embracing the Arrival of Spring
With the days gradually becoming longer and the weather slowly showing signs of warming up, it's heartening to know that the end of winter is nearing. We have witnessed our students' resilience throughout the colder months, and it's heartwarming to see them grow and learn even during challenging times. As the season changes, we anticipate the energy and enthusiasm that spring brings, and we look forward to sharing more exciting moments with our students and their families.
Student-Led Conferences
We are thrilled to inform you that our student-led conferences are just around the corner, being held on Tuesday 29th August and Wednesday 30th August from 3:30pm - 7:00pm. Bookings are now open via PAM.
These conferences provide a unique opportunity for your child to take the reins and actively engage in sharing their learning journey with you. This process encourages self-reflection, goal setting, and effective communication skills. We believe that this collaborative effort between students, parents, and teachers is crucial in nurturing well-rounded individuals who are confident in their abilities and aspirations.
The student-led conferences form an essential part of our reporting process. Alongside SeeSaw, general communication and formal semester reports provide important information for our parent community about how students are going in their learning. The focus of student-led conferences is around developing assessment capable students, that is, students who are able to identify and discuss their learning goals, efforts towards these and their achievements. These are essential skills for successful learners to be able to develop and carry with them. Whilst students will have prepared some of their thoughts for this discussion. It can be valuable for parents also to have some prompting questions ready to go. Some suggestions for prompting you may like to use are:
- Can you tell me more about…?
- I was excited/proud to see that you….
- What did you find challenging with this task, term, or activity?
- What was your goal? Did you achieve it? Why/Why Not?
- What is something we can do together at home to support your learning?
Story Time Success
We are delighted to report that our recent story time events have been a resounding success. The magic of storytelling truly came alive as our students listened to captivating tales and embarked on imaginative adventures as our 2024 Foundation group prepare for their transition to schooling . We appreciate your support in fostering a love for reading and learning within our school community. Let's continue to encourage these literary journeys that help expand our students' minds and hearts.
Neon Disco Extravaganza
Get ready to put on your dancing shoes and your brightest attire because the much-anticipated Neon Disco is happening TONIGHT! We can hardly contain our excitement as we prepare for an evening filled with dazzling lights, groovy tunes, and infectious laughter. The disco provides a fantastic opportunity for students, families, and staff to come together and celebrate the joy of community in a vibrant and lively setting.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the families who have contributed their time, energy, and enthusiasm to our school community. Your involvement is what makes our school truly special, and we are grateful for your unwavering support.
Father’s Day Celebrations
We would like to invite you to our Father's Day Celebration that will be held on Friday the 1st of September, which is the same day as the 5/6 Learning Community Market Day Stalls.
At 11:30 am, students will gather in Family Groups at school with their family members or special people for a Liturgy and a Response Activity. Please note that some students with a stall that requires last minute preparation (e.g. a food stall) may not take part in the Response Activity.
From 12:30pm until 2:00 pm the students will have an opportunity to shop at the stalls with their special people. We wish to emphasise that children without an adult present will have an opportunity to shop at the stalls with their family group teacher.
Please remember that your partnership is invaluable, and we always welcome your feedback and suggestions. If you have any questions or would like to get involved in any upcoming events, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
Father's Day Stall
To celebrate our Father’s and the Special men in our lives, we will hold a Father’s Day Stall on Tuesday, 29th August. Gifts will be $5 each, and siblings will be invited to attend the stall together to purchase the perfect gift for their dad.
Payment can be made via QuickCliq. To do this, please login to your QuickCliq account (via the SZapp as you would for lunch orders), scroll to events, and you will note the Father’s Day Stall, where you can place your order.
Please note that gifts are limited to one per child and a separate order is required to be put through for each child to assist in a seamless process for helpers on the day. Cash purchases will also be accepted on the day.
