Principal's Update - 8th May
Welcome
Dear Families,
We have definitely enjoyed the sunshine over the past few weeks. It has been a nice change for both students and staff at our school and enabled our building project to progress without weather delays.
Catholic Education Week Celebration
Last Friday, we celebrated with a Mass to acknowledge 150 Years of Catholic Education in the Ballarat Diocese. We were blessed to welcome both Fr Ed Moloney and Fr Francis to co-celebrate this wonderful celebration. Our thanks go to Torie and Lucy for their organisation and planning of this celebration. Our teachers enjoyed hot soup and rolls for lunch as a small token of our appreciation to all their efforts in educating our children.
Mother’s Day Stall and Celebrations
This year we are excited to celebrate our Mother’s and the special women in our lives with Family group liturgies in LGs here at school. Family Group gatherings will commence at 9:15 am on Friday, 10th May, with all gates open from 9:05 am. Groups will gather in Prayer, and there will be opportunities for children and Mum’s to participate in activities together.
Thanks to our fabulous group of dads who organised and ran a very successful Mother’s Day Stall on Friday. We are grateful to have such supportive helpers ready to assist and ensure all students are able to participate and purchase gifts to surprise their mums.
Confirmation Preparation
A big thank you to our Parent helpers who have so generously volunteered to facilitate groups to support the preparation of students in order to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation on either the 19th or 26th of May. Without your support the facilitation of these groups would not be possible. We also thank Torie & Lucy and Lia for their support. It has been wonderful to have both Fr Ed and Fr Francis show a keen interest in the preparation sessions with the attendance on both nights so far.
We invite you to please join us on either Sunday the 19th or 26th of May at 10am Mass to celebrate this significant occasion.
Walk to School Day
This coming Friday is Walk to School Day. This could be a great opportunity for families and groups to plan a walk to school together, especially while the weather outlook remains favourable. Safety remains paramount for any family choosing for their children to walk to school. Please ensure that students are supervised at all times and walk safely together in groups. We ask that families ensure they converse with their children about Stranger Danger. Being alert but not alarmed.
Bunnings BBQ - 28th July
Once again our school has been fortunate to secure a spot for the highly sought after Bunnings BBQ fundraiser, and we need your assistance to help make it a success!
The BBQ will be held on Sunday 28th July, commencing at 8:30am and finishing at 4:30pm. We require 3-4 volunteers for each shift (2 hr shifts) throughout the day.
Please complete the form in previous posts to indicate if you are able to assist on the day. Organisers will be in contact with you closer to the date to confirm.
Should you have any queries, please contact the school office.
Parents and Friends - Sip and Social
'Sip and Social' has been once again organised by our wonderful Parents and Friends commitee. This will be held on Friday 14th June at Grainery Lane.
Tickets are available on Quickcliq now. $30 Early bird tickets until the 23rd May then tickets are $40.
Canapes included, drinks at bar prices.
AEDC - Australian Early Development Census
Our school will take part in the AEDC between May and July this year. The AEDC is a national census conducted every three years by the Australian Government in partnership with state and territory governments. It measures how children have developed by the time they start their first year of full-time school.
The AEDC is voluntary and it does not measure how well children are doing at school, nor how their school compares to other schools. Instead, it shows how children are growing and progressing in five key areas, what is being done well and what can be improved. AEDC data is used by schools, early childhood organisations, researchers and governments to help plan and improve services and supports for children and families. This is why all children in their first year of school need to be included in the AEDC. You can learn more about the ways AEDC data is used at https://www.aedc.gov.au/.
